First aid workshop

We were visited by a volunteer with Uprava RS za zaščito in reševanje, a government body that helps people in events of natural disasters and when professional help is needed. He explained how to behave responsibly, what to do and how to prevent cases of fire, how to protect yourself and others in the event of an earthquake, and how to provide first aid to people in need. We got a lot of invaluable and practical information.

The Slovenian breakfast

We are well aware of the importance of healthy eating and among good habits is eating healthy breakfast. Healthy means that the ingredients are fresh, nutritional and locally produced. To raise awareness among students, we served a healthy breakfast at school which contained Slovenian products. We had bread with butter and honey, some milk and an apple. Yummy! And healthy.

Safe in traffic

BeFunky-collage3.jpg

Sometimes, situations in traffic can be tricky. Do you know how to cross the street safely? How about traffic signs, do you know what they mean? Can you safely navigate your bike? Do you always wear a helmet? How about the safety belt? In order to raise awareness about traffic safety, we organised a workshop, which involved members of police, firefighters, traffic wardens and traffic experts who all contributed to learning about cautious and safe behaviour in traffic.

Dancing is fun..and healthy

We took part at a dance event in Ljubljana Diham ples, which promotes dancing for a healthy and fit body.

Hiking for health

There are so many beautiful Slovenian mountains so why not hike one of them? This time we picked Golica, a peak on the border between Slovenia and Austria. The weather was brilliant. From the top we could see Slovenia in the south and Austria in the north. The hike was not that difficult and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. And, we did something for our health, which is also not bad at all.

EU Olympics logo

The coming year 2018 will be the Olympic year, as the Winter Olympics in Beijing in Korea will take place in February, where the Slovenian national team will also take part.

In the current and next school year, our school is included in the Erasmusplus project, bearing the title of the EU Olympics (European Olympic Games), with the primary purpose of promoting Olympic values, sports, a healthy lifestyle, meeting peers from the European space, learning about European countries, cultures, overcoming differences, and giving children a chance to communicate in a foreign language.

One of the first project activities we have undertaken is to design a project logo that reflects the above values.

Choosing a common project logo

BeFunky-collage.jpg

Each participating country prepared its own logo, among which we selected a common one. The fight for the first place was demanding, since all the logos were fantastic. The pupils voted, and ... ... the first place went to ... the Portuguese logo. This has now become our common project logo.

Competition "Olympic torch"

As part of the creation of the project logo, we participated in the competition titled "Olympic Torch", which was announced by the Olympic Committee of Slovenia in order to connect art, sport and heritage. We were imaginative and creative

Selection of the EU Olympic logo

We worked on the creation of logo proposals, which should be represented by the Erasmus + project. So far we have devoted 3 hours of production to this, and we have developed some ideas from which we will choose one. Logos are marked by interconnection and cooperation between European countries. Based on this, we created the following templates:

And the winning logo? Unanimously, this was selected:

But we had some more

Zadobrova Primary School hosted a unique festival of creativity, sports and ecology. We invited students, students’ families, teachers and other members of local community to participate in various workshops and sports competitions. The themes were healthy lifestyle, sport, healthy food, ecology, sustainability, recycling and food self-supply. We planted fruit, vegetable and spices saplings, arranged flowerbeds and a vegetable garden, used waste materials to create useful recycled articles like photo frames, board games, bookmarks etc., and with a little help from parents and teachers, we made carrot and apple cider and a lot of various healthy snacks. Some parents, members of community, teachers and students took part in basketball, volleyball and football matches, some opted for yoga workshop while others enjoyed the sun at an outdoors fair where one could sample healthy food, excellent carrot cider and buy recycled products made in creative workshops. It was great fun, and hopefully, there will be more such events at our school in the future.

Our school took part in an event called Pot ob žici (March along barbed wire). It is an annual three day event in May when the Municipality of Ljubljana celebrates the Day of Peace, and the day when we celebrate the Europe day. The event is celebrated by walking (running or cycling) the route around Ljubljana, a distance of about 35 kilometres, in memory of the liberation of Ljubljana during the second world war as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle. We walked some of the route on Friday. We started at Kontrolna točka Rudnik and from there we walked across Golovec hill back to the school. Younger students took a shorter route. The weather was perfect and we had lots of fun. On top of it, we practised a way of being active in order to stay fit and healthy. See you next year!

We love CARROTS. We planted them at school, harvested them, learned how to use them to prepare healthy snacks and presented our knowledge and products at Altermed fair.

It was a sunny Monday afternoon when Zadobrova Primary School students challenged teachers on the football pitch. There were many spectators, some cheering for students, others supporting the teachers. Everyone had lots of fun and we promoted playing sports, fair play and shared values. Who won?? Everyone won, of course
