MY ERASMUS EXPERIENCE SUNDAY 30/09/2018 (Mariana Monteiro)

BeFunky-collage (90).jpg

Sunday, the most awaited day for the whole Portuguese group, we were all so eager to get to know a new country and stay at the home of our Bulgarian colleagues. The flight was tiring because we didn’t sleep and the trip took nine hours. We had a stopover in Amsterdam, when we arrived in Bulgaria it was already 2 pm, it was a very long flight but it was worth it. Seeing the Bulgarian group waiting for us was so exciting, getting to know our colleagues for the first time and having the first impression with everyone was an unforgettable moment, after the meeting with our colleagues we got to know their family and after this each one of us went to the house of his host.

After the lunch, we left the school and we went to the center of Sofia to have a guided tour in the city, there we saw some of the most important monuments and learned a few things about the story of Bulgaria.

MY ERASMUS EXPERIENCE SATURDAY 06/10/2018 (Daniel Coelho)

BeFunky-collage (97).jpg

The last day! Our hosts drove us to the Sofia airport. When we arrived at the airport we all had a mix of emotions, happiness to go home to our things and family and at the same time sadness to leave our friends from Bulgaria, people with whom we lived an incredible week, with whom we created strong friendships . We have learned a lot of things that we had no idea from Bulgaria, for example about food and about their way of being. It was an unforgettable experience, full of adventures, of fears and full of new friendships.

MY ERASMUS EXPERIENCE. SLOVENIA. BRUNA HENRIQUES 18/03/2018.

BeFunky-collage (98).jpg

Sunday. We finally arrived at Zadobrova after a long trip from home due to which we were all starving and tired. In that moment I just didn’t know what to do. Should I greet them with a kiss, a hug...? However Pia quickly showed up and hugged me. That was the first time I ever seen her, I had no idea she was so beautiful. After that I discovered the first thing I didn't know about the Slovenian people: they give 3 kisses on the cheeks instead of one which was really awkward at first since I wasn't going to the third kiss. Afterwards Alejandro and I went to her house where she showed us to our rooms and where we had the so awaited dinner. The second thing I learned was that they eat really early so at that time it was just Alejandro, Pia and me who were eating, it was very kind of her mother to make a second dinner for us. Pia's cousin and neighbour, Joseph, host of Henrique, invited us to go to his house to have some pancakes so after eating in Pia's house we went there and stayed to watch a movie. During our visit we talked a lot about everything from the school system to the weather of each country, to their trips and to each other’s languages. From what I've seen until now they are a very large and friendly family (Pia has 5 siblings!!!!). Each one of them also practices a sport and has already tried to play instruments what got me really surprised. After watching a movie we got back to Pia's house to sleep.

MY ERASMUS EXPERIENCE. Monday, 19th March 2018. Joana Chen

BeFunky-collage (100).jpg

I woke up at 8am and it was snowing outside, when l saw the snow in the morning l felt very comfortable and l was very excited and wanted to be outside playing with snowballs.  After our breakfast my host Manca took me to her music room, where she played some music in the piano and guitar. Then we stared to talk and interact a lot, she taught me a lot of words in Slovene and l taught her some words in Portuguese and mandarin. We had lots of fun when we tried to say some words in different languages.  Then her grandparents came to take us to school. When l saw them for the first time they showed me a big smile on their faces and it made me feel like home. Although they couldn’t speak English they were very friendly. On the way to school l saw the mountains on the background and it seemed like a postcard, because l had never seen a mountain with snow in my life and it really looked like a picture. We arrived at school at 10 o’clock and then the Slovenian students sang to us 2 welcome songs in Slovene and they showed us some videos presenting Slovenia and the European Olympics project. After that we had our oral presentation and it went well, better than l was expecting because before our presentation l was a little bit nervous.   In the afternoon we went to Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital city, and we walked a lot around in the new and old part of the city. We started our excursion to Ljubljana’s castle, we weren’t inside but we found it very funny outside because everything was covered by snow and we started our trip with a snow battle.   With all this short trip l felt that Ljubljana is a very beautiful city, unfortunately they didn’t give us time to buy some souvenirs. At night we had a party in their school, we ate a lot of Slovenia’s traditional food and we started to “brake ice” between all the students of these project. At the end of the party we all went to our host families.

MY ERASMUS EXPERIENCE.  20th of March 2018.  João Silva

BeFunky-collage1.jpg

Tuesday. Today we went to school earlier at around 8:50 am to be there at 9 am. We went by bus and like us Alex and the other students have a pass card that they can use. We had to bring sports clothes because today was the day of the games. I brought my stuff in a backpack and changed my clothes at the school. There was a small opening depicting the real Olympic Games and right after that the games started. To be honest all the games were a bit silly but fun nonetheless. They consisted of things like manoeuvring a ball on an obstacle course, guessing the name of an athlete from another country and so on, the only real game was hockey in which I and my team tied. After we were done with the games, unfortunately, my team was placed last because we had the least points, but we had fun regardless. We chatted a bit before lunch and after that we went to another sports hall in the school were we played some volleyball and exchanged some words with our Slovene friends (interesting words I should say) and as a resulted learned some Slovene. I also learned that they don't usually have a shower at school, the reason is that there is only one and it's right next to the door, I wouldn't neither. I Alex and some of the guys went home and I took a quick shower before Alex' dad picked us up to take us to bowling and billiards were we planned to meet. It was fun but I must admit that even though I play badly they didn't play well either nonetheless time well spent. We returned to Alex' home were we had dinner chatted a bit and I eventually went to bed to talk to my parents. I must admit that I’m starting to get relatively comfortable around Alex and his family they are really nice and the people from Slovenia are all very welcoming. It was time for bed.

MY ERASMUS EXPERIENCE. Wednesday, 22nd March 2018, by Maria Reis

BeFunky-collage2.jpg

The day started normally. We had breakfast, walked the dog and then got to school. After everyone was at school we began our walk to the Olympic Centre. After a while we got to our destination. The walk, although long, was pretty fun. Everybody was talking and joking around. Once at the Olympic Centre, we had an interesting presentation about Olympic values and culture and how important they are in order to have a fair sports competition. We recreated the opening ceremony of the Olympics Games and got to know more about Slovenia’s Olympic history. Despite being a small country Slovenia has lot of excellent athletes that represented their country very well with some of them winning medals. At the end, we got to take a look at the museum and we got to try somethings like skiing, for example. Overall it was a very good experience. After the visit, we walked (again) to a restaurant. Inside the restaurant we found a very warm and sympathetic environment. There we had a really tasty meal which consisted of a lot of different types of meat. Besides the meat, there were some beans with onions and tomato sauce there some type of an omelette and naturally bread. I did not get to taste every single type of meat that it was served but all that I tasted was delicious. Afterwards we took the bus home. That day we had a free afternoon so we went to Celje and visited the castle there. Celje is the third largest town in Slovenia and it takes about an hour by car to get there. The castle has associated some really interesting myths and legends and even tough some parts are still being rebuilt you can get a pretty good idea of how things were back then. In addition, you can take some great pictures because the castle has a wonderful view over the city. Later we returned to Ljubljana and ate a home cooked dinner. Then we went briefly to Julia’s house. After that we went home again, ate ice cream, talked for little bit and then went to bed.

MY ERASMUS EXPERIENCE. Thursday / 22 March / Thursday Tomás Emidio

BeFunky-collage3.jpg

I wake up in the morning and have breakfast with Martin and his mother, we eat some very nice pancakes, then we get ready and go to school. The plan today is going to Planica to watch a ski jumping competition, then proceed walking through a snowy valley until we reach a big cabin that works as a restaurant at the very end of the path. When we arrive at the school, there’s a bus waiting for us. We wait until everyone is on board and then the one hour trip starts. The ride is very pleasant as we ride through the mountains and little cosy villages on our way there. Suddenly, the gigantic ski ramps of Planica appear on our right. We park in a parking lot full of other buses. As we get out, we are handed some snacks to eat, and after we are done, we start walking down to the viewing area. The place is full and teeming with energy there, lots of flags and horns are to be seen and heard everywhere. Some of the ski jumpers are training, and as we are making our way to a good spot, the presenter starts talking, and so the event starts! It’s amazing seeing those men jumping over 200m, launching themselves from those heights with only their skis and body to control their flight. If seeing them is already as fantastic as it is, then being one of them while soaring the air must be truly something! The event lasted around 2 hours, and after it ended we gathered around the start of the trail. It was a beautiful walk. The valley was covered in snow and went right through the middle of a forest. After an hour of walking we reached the cabin. While we were waiting for the food we talked, played with the snow and with a sleigh going downhill. After we were done, it was time to head back, and how fun it was! The entire way back was marked by an intense snowball fight between everyone! It was a great time, and although we were all soaked, we didn’t care. It’s interesting how something as basic as throwing snowballs and pushing people into the snow can be ridiculously funny and entertaining when you are with amazing people. On the bus ride back, most of us were tired and slept or just rested, and was overall a calm trip. When we got back to the school, the official schedule for the day was done, but it was still far from ending! One of the Slovenian students, Julia, invited us to go to her house at night. So, until that, everyone went back with their hosts, and in my case, we just went home and watched a movie. After me and Martin finished eating, we met up on the street with a group of other people also going there. When we got there we went up to her bedroom. That is, until more people came. Then we moved to the living room, but once again, more people arrived, and by more people I mean pretty much everybody, so we ended up outside her house. Julia’s dad got us a barrel and made a bonfire, and our night was spent around it, and what a night it was! Everyone was talking with each other, even those who tended to be quieter let their selves out that night. It was great fun, and truly a moment where we were all connected. If there were still any barriers between members of the project that prohibited anyone being comfortable around each other, they were broken. We drank, ate snacks and just had fun for some good two hours. After that, we went home, took a bath and slept.

MY ERASMUS EXPERIENCE. Friday 23rd March 2018. HENRIQUE CARVALHO

BeFunky-collage4.jpg

On Friday morning we had a sort of workshop in which we were taught about bicycles and safety. For example how to change an air chamber and such. After that, we rode bikes that were attached to devices that allowed us to pedal without moving, and we did a resistance test. After that we rode the bikes on a test course with obstacles. It was a lot of fun. After that bike trial, it was the turn of the Spanish students to present their works to everyone and it was quite fun also. After lunch Jakob and Pja took me, Alejandro and Bruna to Nika's handball game, and it was superb. It allowed us to bond more and cheer and support for Nika and her team. When the game ended, her team was the winner and it was already night time, so we headed to school. Because of being our last night there, they threw a party. Some students chose the music's and we had pizza, juice and water for dinner! It was really awesome. Everyone was dancing and having fun. All students from all countries gathered in a wheel several times when sad music came up and we all singed and danced. Then when the party ended, we spitted in two groups and each group went to a different host house to an after party. That's how the night ended, after that we all headed home to sleep.

MY ERASMUS EXPERIENCE.  SPAIN.

Carolina Ribeiro (Sunday, 17th March)

This was the day of our arrival to the most desired place: the school of our spanish hosts. They all welcomed us very warmly and friendly. After each of us found their host, they took us to their homes so that we could meet the families and get used to the place. After an exhausting journey (and a desperate need to go to the toilet) came the time to rest and we could start this wonderful week full of energy.

Monday began with a Geometry class, where we participated in the painting of a rose of the winds. It was a pleasant moment because it created some complicity between the visitors and the students of the recipient country.

Then we were greeted with canes prepared by the students and the director of the school who introduced himself and welcomed us. Sweaters bearing the erasmus project logo were offered for sporting activities. Afterwards, the group visited the City Hall, where we met the mayor, who wished us a good stay in his historic city - Badajoz - There were also offers related to the ex libris of the city to promote to visitors information orientations of exploration of the city. We still had the opportunity to visit the castle of the city, where we received some informative and historical documents. Then we walked through the walls of the castle, we observed the highest tower that allowed, in times of war, to move the bodies of the enemies. At that moment, we remember the historical bravery of the city. After the photos to later remember this moment, we returned to school.

After lunch, at three o'clock in the afternoon, we had some free time that we had with moments of conviviality and of the town, especially on the other side of the Guadiana river. Gives historical and cultural sharing followed the conviviality with sporting activities and exchange of knowledge of several foreign languages. It was a very enriching moment and it brought us very close.

We return home at the end of the day, each to his host. In particular, I considered that the family that welcomed me was extremely kind. Also at home I shared intercultural knowledge with the whole family, offering a bit of my culture and learning a little of the customs and customs of another country.

At night I lay down in bed exhausted but with the feeling that the sharing, lived throughout the day, transformed my view on the importance of sharing cultures and experiences. I was grateful for the opportunity I will never forget.

Sara Carvalho (Tuesday, 19th March)

In the morning me and my host went to the High School, and I attended to a part of her first class. At 9'15 we went to the bus to go to Mérida, once we arrived we were all talking. After a short moment we visited a Roman Museum, and a man showed us the museum and explained to us the things that were there. Then we went to a Roman Theatre and Amphitheater, and it was really beautiful! We all took pictures.

IMG_1850.JPG

After this we went on a short train trip around the city, we were all laughing and talking with each other. For lunch, we went to a park and seated toguether. Then we were all very tired and slept on the bus, until we arrived to park where we watched a film about the nature around those areas. After, we went on a rout and we went back to Badajoz. In the evening we all met in a park, had dinner and it was really fun!

Bárbara Costa (Wednesday, 20th March, Olympic Day)

IMG_1980.JPG

We started the day with a trip from Badajoz to the Guadiana River Park where, on arrival, we were greeted by students from the School of Sports.

Each group of students participating in the Erasmus program received the flag corresponding to their country as a form of representation and later we attended short presentation of music and dance, but then we met with our respective teams and started the games.

Each game had a duration of about 5 minutes where the scores of the teams were scored in order to awaken the competitive spirit.

Near the lunch hour, and after all the teams had participated in all the games, we witnessed a small speech of thanks by the Mayor and there was the delivery of the medals with the presence of two Olympic athletes and all the teachers included in the project.

We left for the school where we ended the afternoon with the Family Snack where all parents, students and teachers joined.

This day was very important, because sport is not only based on competition but it is a tool widely used as a form of social integration and the fact that we are in teams makes us need more of each other. The Olympic values were undoubtedly making us create more bonds of friendship.

Margarida Bastos (Thursday, 21st March)

Thursday in Spain, I woke up at 7:00 am, I went out and went to school, we arrived at school at 8:00 am, Irene had her first class, so I went to watch, the class ended around 9:30 am, after which we all met in front of the school to go by bus to a place to do activities.

We got there and the instructors told us a little history of that place and then explained what we were going to do there, we did orientation in twenty

IMG_2188.JPG

minutes and then we went to snack, then went to slide, rapel and two types of climbing, all this in the morning.

After these activities were over we went to lunch from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., after that time we went to do activities again, like canoeing, paddle surfing and boat trip until 4:00 p.m. then we went to the bus to go to the school.

We arrived at school and stayed to combine some things for later, we went home to take a shower and some went to train that day, at 6:00 p.m we went to meet Mafalda and Clara to go all together for the bus stop, we found there Jaime and Tiago, and we all went together on the bus, we passed a University and left at the other stop towards the "El Faro" shopping center, I and the others went to see the stores and then we met Barbara and the other group that was with her, around 10:00 p.m some went to home dinner, but others had dined in a restaurant that was nearby.

This day was one of the ones I liked the most and I had fun.

The people there were all very nice, but of course I got more with some than with others, the family that welcomed me was 5 stars, always willing to help and always asked if I needed anything or if I was hungry, if I did not like some food they made sure I told them, but by chance this never happened, all the food there was good, the house had impeccable conditions, I really enjoyed being there, I made friends there and I loved to go back there to be able to be with them and that they also come here to Portugal.

João Cunha (Friday, 22nd March)

On Friday morning we went to attend the classes of our hosts and wait for the next activity that was the presentation of the work of each foreign country.

At the time of the presentations the Portuguese showed a video, the Bulgarians showed an oral presentation just as the Slovenes did, all about the host country, Spain.

After completing the oral presentations, questionnaires about the week  were

IMG_2319.JPG

presented, which both students and teachers responded to.

And then the certificates were handed out and there was the farewell of the Bulgarians to return to their country.

At the end of this farewell the students stayed in the music room talking and waiting until the teachers gave us more instructions of what to do next.

After we made some games and we all went to their library where we were taught about the art and the past of the calligraphy and the writing in ink, where we had to write on a special sheet called papyrus using the knowledge we had received in the activities in the morning.

In the afternoon the students went all home to have lunch with the families and do their duties and to prepare for the evening.

In the evening the Spanish students decided to have a party for the foreign students. At around 8 pm we all went to the party and we all had a good time having fun until near midnight, when we all said goodbye and went back to our homes.
